Red brick church with a clock tower at Copthorne

Copthorne is a West Sussex village of about 5,000 people, sitting right on the Surrey border, close to Gatwick. It has a Victorian church, St John the Evangelist, built in the 1870s, and a common where prize fights are said to have been held in the early 1800s. It is also the nearest village to us. The drive to our workshop in Smallfield is about 5 minutes and 2 miles.

Close enough to just turn up

At that distance, the usual advice changes. You do not have to commit to anything before you come. Ring, say you are on your way, and we will look at the car. Often that is quicker than sending photos and waiting. For a dent, a cracked bumper corner or a patch of lifted paint, a look from a person standing in front of the car beats any picture.

Copthorne has plenty of drivers who commute towards Gatwick or Crawley, and plenty who run the car on short trips. Short trips mean car parks and tight spaces, and that is where many of the small knocks come from. Our SMART repair service often suits a small dent with the paint intact, and our scratch repairs page covers marks that have not gone deep.

How to get here from Copthorne

Head north out of the village on Copthorne Bank. It runs into Church Road at the northern end of the village. Keep going and you join Redehall Road, which takes you into Smallfield. We are at Unit 6, 100 Redehall Road. There is no need for a main road at all, and satnav will manage it without help.

A quick job that suits the short drive

Headlight restoration is the one thing where being near matters most. It costs 35 pounds per headlight, or 70 pounds for both, plus VAT, and it is often done in under an hour. If your lights have turned yellow or cloudy, our headlight restoration page explains how it works. A short drive in and a short wait, and the job is done.

For anything bigger, such as a damaged bumper, we will give you an honest idea of what is involved when we have seen it. We do not guess from the doorstep.

Can you collect the car?

Possibly. We can arrange collection and delivery in nearby areas, and Copthorne is about as near as it gets. It depends on the day, so ask when you ring. For most people here it is easier to drive over and wait.

Neighbours in Crawley Down and Felbridge take the longer way round to reach us. You can find out more about the village where the workshop stands on our Smallfield page.
